🌱Sustainability
Retrofit of former Victorian warehouse designed around circular approach: including salvaging existing partitions + reincorporating them into a demountable timber storage structure
Longevity + future flexibility: main connecting staircase designed for disassembly using pre-fabricated components bolt-fixed together
Elegant, shingle clad rooftop extension: forming high-quality workspace that is naturally ventilated + brightly lit by north facing roof lights
Green roof with swift boxes provides new biodiverse habitat
🥦 Wellbeing
Ground level street fronting exhibition space: strong community interaction element – such as film screenings from young start-up entrepreneurs in the creative sector
Open-plan, flexible floorplates accommodate a wide variety of different working preferences
Internal partitions + meeting rooms made with clear glass and light timber frame: creating sense of openness and brightness throughout
🎈Bonus feature
The ground floor features the hyper-seasonal and low-impact plant-based restaurant: EDIT – “embracing creative root-to-fruit preparations to ensure minimal waste”. The restaurant founder, Elly Ward, is also a qualified architectural designer! And so she was able to design the space herself; a creative exercise in adaptive re-use and minimal intervention.
